Marcus Rashford and Barcelona were in contract talks last summer, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.
The Englishman signed a new deal with Manchester United in July 2019 until 2023, with there being an option to extend for a further year. Rashford cited that the club has ‘been everything in his life’ since joining as a youngster, making his decision to commit a rather straightforward one.
As per the above report though, Barcelona contacted Rashford’s agent and brother, Dwaine Maynard, over bringing the forward to the Nou Camp. At the time, his deal with United was set to expire in 2020, meaning concrete interest from elsewhere could have caused a precarious situation for the Reds.

However, due to doubts about moving country and also no guarantee of a starting spot, Rashford stayed at Old Trafford. Talks are not though to have entered an advanced stage, with the La Liga giants hoping that the player himself would put pressure on the Red Devils to force a sale.
The forward’s decision to remain in Manchester has no doubt benefited United – Rashford has grown to become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s key attacking outlet, standing tall as the club’s top scorer this season with nineteen goals.
