Real Madrid are still interested in signing Paul Pogba, with the player remaining a ‘great wish’ for Zinedine Zidane.
This is according to Spanish news outlet AS, who report that the manager sees the midfielder as the ideal type of player to build his squad around.

Madrid’s interest in the Frenchman is one of football’s worst kept secrets, with various publications citing the club’s long time admiration of the 27-year-old. Zidane, in particular, is very keen to bring Pogba to the Spanish capital, and he is not giving up hope on this potential transfer.
The Frenchman’s current deal with United currently expires in 2021, but the club do have the option to trigger a one-year clause in the contract. As per AS though, this would only ‘anger’ the player, as he sees his future away from Manchester.
It’s been a frustrating season for Pogba, having only featured seven times in the Premier League. His campaign has been overshadowed by an ongoing ankle problem, an injury that has taken much longer to recover from than first anticipated.
During his time on the sidelines, United’s form has not been hampered too much, particularly since the turn of the new year. The club are currently unbeaten in their last eleven games, with new midfielder Bruno Fernandes filling Pogba’s creative absence in the side.
The arrival of the Portuguese international has rejuvenated everybody at the club, and he would act as a softening blow, should the Frenchman eventually depart Old Trafford.
Reports in Spain continue to fuel such speculation, with this story not fizzling out anytime soon. Until a decision is made on Pogba’s contract, Madrid will no doubt continue to be strongly linked to their highly-desired transfer target.
